I’m Alison Dunn, a Farmington parent of four Davis School District students (two graduates and two currently enrolled), a local small business owner, and President of the Farmington High Community Council. I am running for the Davis School Board Precinct 3 seat because I advocate for kids—always have, and always will.
Note: If you are looking for my political party, it's not here. This is a non-partisan local race. Politics should never dictate decisions that affect our children's classrooms. To maintain true independence, I do not accept endorsements or campaign donations from partisan political groups. Every dollar funding this campaign comes directly from local parents, teachers, and neighbors.

I’ve spent more than 10 years as a parent and active participant in Davis Schools, while also gaining firsthand experience with school districts in California, Nevada, Oklahoma, and Michigan. I’ve seen different approaches to education and the impact district decisions can have on families. Here in Davis County, that work is especially personal because these are the schools and communities where my own children have learned and grown.

I have known Alison for about eleven years, and during that time I’ve had the privilege of seeing her in many roles—first as a parent when I had her daughter in my class, and later as a neighbor and collaborator in our community. Every interaction with Alison has shown me the same thing: she is a person of integrity, intelligence, and genuine kindness.
One moment that stood out clearly was when I was preparing a presentation for a group of girls. I asked Alison to take on a portion of it, and the way she stepped in—her knowledge, her confidence, and the way she connected with the girls—was truly impressive. She knows her stuff. When she is given an assignment, she works hard, she prepares, and she delivers.
Another example of her dedication is the teen center she has worked on at FHS. Alison has helped build a space where students in need can access basic essentials like food, hygiene items, and gift cards. I know she has helped bring at least $6,000 worth of gift cards and fill the shelves with food. That kind of effort doesn’t just meet needs—it changes lives. It shows her heart for students and her commitment to making sure every child feels supported.
Alison also steps in when academic needs arise. She has offered her time to tutor students for the ACT, giving them extra support and confidence as they prepare for such an important milestone. She is always willing to be part of the school community when there is a need, and she shows up with purpose and compassion.
I’ve taught Davis County for 27 years, and I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to have leaders who listen, investigate, and work together for real solutions—not just those who choose whatever looks popular. Alison is exactly the kind of leader we need. She shows grit, fairness, and kindness in everything she does. She is not someone who will simply say “yes” because others expect her to. She looks at evidence, thinks things through, and isn’t afraid to consider solutions outside the box. Honestly, that kind of fresh perspective is something our board could benefit from.
I encouraged her to run because I believe in her. I would have voted for her four years ago, and I’m grateful she has put her name in this time. Alison brings integrity, kindness, and strong intelligence—qualities that, together, make her an excellent leadership team.
